OpenAI Turmoil Continues
OpenAI cofounder Ilya Sutskever has become nearly invisible at the AI lab after the dramatic boardroom battle that temporarily ousted CEO Sam Altman.
According to insiders, this week, Sutskever has not been seen around OpenAI’s San Francisco offices.
While his art still decorates the walls and his presence is felt, his position remains unaddressed by leadership.
Leadership Efforts
Sutskever played a key role in Altman’s shocking firing by the board in November.
The controversial move led to President Greg Brockman quitting in protest and employees threatening to do the same if Altman was not reinstated.
Now back as CEO, Altman admitted to being “hurt and angry” over the ordeal.
With bridges burned on both sides, some insiders believe Sutskever, Brockman, and Altman can no longer work together effectively.
Faith Issues
Once widely respected as an AI visionary at the lab, Sutskever’s future contribution remains uncertain.
There are ongoing discussions about potentially finding him a new role.
But with trust broken among leadership, it may prove not easy to regain.
