This Startup Pays You to Recycle Old Phones and Laptops
Do you have old phones and laptops lying around collecting dust? Don't just toss 'em, sell 'em to Erth!
This Cyberjaya-based startup turns e-waste into cold hard cash. Founded by entrepreneur Mohamed Tarek El-Fatatry, Erth pays people for their discarded electronics, and then recycles or resells them for profit. Genius!
Erth’s Army of Heroes
It's like those random dudes who cruise neighborhoods buying newspapers but for all your old gadgets. Erth's army of 100 "heroes" roams the streets collecting busted phones, dead laptops, and other electronic junk.
After scoring a huge Nokia phone haul from a mall, El-Fatatry had his lightbulb moment. Buy low, sell to recyclers high! Erth's been raking in the green ever since. Ka-ching!
Bridging the Gap
But El-Fatatry noticed recyclers and sellers rarely connect. So he built a network bridging the gap. Now his heroes deliver devices straight to recycling centers.
Reselling Mint-condition Gadgets
Last year Erth gathered 500 tons of devices, doubling 2021's haul! With hot demand for secondhand electronics, the startup resells mint-condition gadgets online. Cha-ching again!
Expanding Nationwide
El-Fatatry's got big plans to expand nationwide. More heroes, more eco-friendly gas stations for drop-offs, more everything! He wants to snag half of Malaysia's e-waste market by 2025.
So if you're in Malaysia with old devices collecting dust, hit up Erth! They'll take that trash off your hands and turn it into cash. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me!
